thank you

So as I was ushering at KCAC this weekend, an elderly Caucasian lady approached me, introduced herself as Mary, and asked if she could join us for worship even though we were a Chinese congregation. Seeing Mary's face light up after telling her she was more than welcome to join us was really truly something amazing =]

Mary taught me a whole lot, and really opened my eyes to see a lot of my own faults. She sat in very last pew by herself, and truly engaged herself during worship, and listened intently during the sermon. I guess what really caught me off guard was the way she worshipped, this small, elderly woman- with her hands raised, and her eyes closed, swaying slightly as she sang with all her heart. You see, Mary has cancer, and the reason she wanted to join us for service was because her church was too far away and she had no means of transportation getting there.

I don't know how serious her situation is, nor did I get a chance to talk to her after service... but I hope that she'll come back next week, and I'll get to know her better... and maybe thank her for showing me how petty and insignificant my problems are in the grand scheme of things. I wish I had her faith, peace.. contentment.

therefore we do not lose heart. though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. for our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. so we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 cor 4:16-18
