so apparently spring arrived awhile back... I guess I'm a bit behind with the times, but nonetheless, it's never too late for some spring cleaning.
the ending of classes marked the commencement of what i like to call the grunge era - out come the sweatpants and tshirts, and out stay the sweatpants and tshirts. garbage cans overflow with remnants of late night snacking, and scattered notes form new carpeting... life is disgusting.
it really amazes me how quickly junk can accumulate in one place, and that it takes such constant attention in order to keep it orderly.... as it is in our walk with the Big Guy above. you know when you were a kid and your parents told you to clean your room... all you would do is shove everything under the bed or into the closet? our idols, no matter how many times we shove them into the closet, are bound to come crashing down on us over and over again... I was looking back at journals i kept during winter retreat, and Dom's quote 'insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results" hit me square in the face.
it's time to stop covering them up. maybe this time, spring cleaning will be more than simply trying to keep the doors of that overflowing closet on its hinges. Being a pack rat isn't cool - it's time to throw out them idols, one by one.
heck, it's time to tear the whole house down and rebuild... on a firmer foundation this time. on the cornerstone thats in Christ.
who thought cleaning could be this exciting?
friends don't let friends clean alone, yah? hows your closet looking...
then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the dead unstopped. then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy...
they will enter Zion with singing; everylasting joy will crown their heads. gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.
